Why House Rent exists

Renting in India runs on information asymmetry. The broker quotes ₹40,000 because they can; your neighbour in the same building pays ₹28,000. Nobody publishes what tenants actually pay — listing sites publish asking prices, which is exactly the number the middleman wants you to see.

House Rent is a free, anonymous map of real rents. Renters drop a pin with what they actually pay — 20 seconds, no login, no app. Owners list flats directly, and seekers drop a pin with their budget to get matched by email. There is no broker anywhere in the chain and no fee for anyone.

Two promises we don't break: every pin is real (cities launch empty and fill only with user-contributed data — we never fabricate or import scraped numbers), and contributors stay anonymous (no accounts, no names, approximate locations only).

Live today in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon. The rent medians are open data — see the per-city rent index pages or the public /api/median endpoint, and cite us as House Rent (houserent.co.in).
